At Genesis, we value people as our most important asset and to recognize this, we have an ‘Employee of the Quarter’ scheme to reward the hard work of individual team members.
These are people who have gone above and beyond their jobs roles to support the business and maintain the high standard of excellence Genesis upholds.
Each quarter, employees are asked to nominate the colleague they feel is deserving of the award, applications are sent in and the leadership team have the pleasure of reading through the nominations and tallying up the votes to see who wins for each side of the business – one for the US, one for the UK/Europe.

So, without further ado, the winners of our Quarter 2 2021 award are …
US Employee of the Quarter
Sarahi Ramos, Production
Sarahi has been with the company for over 5 years and has become one of our most valuable members of staff in production. She is responsible for operating our Hayssen Vertical Form Fill & Seal equipment, which is a very difficult machine to operate, yet she has developed an expert skill level over time. We’ve seen a large demand for packet product in Q2 due to the upcoming pond season so Sarahi was challenged to complete several large orders in a short amount of time, and she was successful in meeting all deadlines ahead of schedule.
Her eye for detail is to be commended and she is careful to follow SOP’s and any specific requirements to ensure her product meets internal specifications and customer expectations. This focus on quality contributes to her high level of accuracy and sets a great example for others. Sarahi proudly displays her commitment to the team, quality, and customer focus and is always willing to help others, serving as a trustworthy resource of information for her fellow teammates. Most recently, she has taken on the responsibility of training and mentoring new staff members in her area of production.
Speaking on her win, Sarahi said: “Este reconocimiento que he recibido lo agradezco con sencillez y alegría, También le doy gracias a mis compañeros de trabajo y a mis superiores. Translation: “I appreciate this recognition that I have received with simplicity and joy. I also thank my co-workers and my superiors. I hope it will be an example of inspiration to others to do their best and [have a] positive attitude to achieve a good job.”
UK Employee of the Quarter
Lucy Rowley, QC/Laboratory Technician
Being part of the Quality department means you have to have focus. Lucy maintains focus from the beginning to the end of every QC analysis and ensures that our contract manufacturers are held to account if there are any issues. Part of Lucy’s role is to send samples to customers and prospects; she has an eye for detail in making sure the samples and documentation are well presented and always ensures the sales team are informed of sample progression.
Lucy is always on hand when required and despite her own workload, she will always help across other areas of the business. She also lives and breaths the company’s eco-benign® ethos and is keen to keep her processes as environmentally responsible as possible, recently requesting to add some additional information to be included in with samples to encourage our customers to recycle the packaging their samples are delivered in. Lucy is described as one of life’s true team players, she always has time for everyone and if someone needs help, she is there.
Genesis Biosciences appreciates both Sarahi and Lucy’s hard work and dedication to their roles, their fellow colleagues and the company!
About our scheme
Since its inception as an employee reward program in 2013, we have now had 33 winners in the US and 33 winners in the UK.
For the US, the maintenance department has had 4 winners, the production department has had 14 winners, the fermentation department has had 5 winners and the Sales department has had 2 winners.
In the UK we have 9 winners within operations, 3 winners from the sales arena, 11 winners from the lab department, 5 winners from the admin department, 4 from management and 1 joint award.
Employees from every area of the business are able to win the award and are encouraged to nominate their colleagues for the hard work they do.
